The profession of pharmacy has evolved to a more hands on approach to patient care utilizing the advanced drug knowledge to deliver the desired patient outcome. As the profession of pharmacy continues to move into new domains such as prescribing, patient assessment and administration of vaccines, the need for pharmacists to be equipped with CPR Faculty of Pharmacy training becomes an essential component in patient care. As a result, the current session will debate over the need to mandate CPR training as part of the licencing requirement. Nursing, Medicine and other health disciplines have embraced this requirement as a societal expectation of their respective professions. As pharmacists, engaging in direct patient care every day....where do you stand on this issue?

Capt. Sarah Van Heukelom, B.Sc.Pharm
Pharmacy Officer
Military Pharmacists are integral members of the Canadian Forces health care team. The role of a Pharmacist is constantly changing; Pharmacists must now be effective in identifying and resolving complex drug-related problems, they must dedicate time to consultation with patients, physicians, and other health care professionals. They are also expected to participate in the education of pharmacy students and interns, to become members of advisory and professional committees, and to maintain their clinical competence through structured and self-directed learning initiatives.
